“…As Leaders, we often hold the lives of others in balance…”

20131127_071757     THE “WAGGING” TONGUE: There are those who speak rashly, like the  piercing of a sword but the tongue of the wise brings healing… Proverbs – 12:18.

This isn’t rocket science, just common sense. Treat people how you want to be treated. The GOLDEN RULE applies to all areas of our lives….career, social, family, and spiritual.

Matthew 7:12 – “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

Note… this passage says “in everything;” not just at church, not just at home, not just at work, and not just in the social setting…. It’s everything, and everywhere, and applies to everybody…. You, me, and them.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 – There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:  a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

As Leaders, we often hold the lives of others in balance. Just the slant of a word, expression, or a simple look in the eyes…all added together… can make or break someone’s self-esteem, their moral, and… even a breakdown of their commitment.

As Leaders, we can’t use (or should not) our “tongues” for tongue-lashing, but rather, for compliments, encouragement, affection… or a simple sign of respect. Bottom-line: Hold your tongue, until your mind shifts in gear.

Remember this: A Leader who “rules with a vicious tongue” …. Is ruling by FORCE. My Advice: Stay away from this kind of Leadership…. Blessings…cjlb… 9/23/15.
