Win or Lose? How is one’s career shaped? There is, of course, a “developing process” that all SERIOUS LEADERS must endure. There’s schooling requirements, on-the-job-training, the mentoring process, appointment, inheritance, and if they’re really fortunate – The Leader will have EARNED their stripes.
How one might achieve stardom is important; particularly from the perspective of peer competition. It’s the outcome of the process that counts. Did they succeed, or fail…. Win or lose. And were the desired goals accomplished? Certainly no one would “plan to lose,” only to WIN. This addresses “just the development” process.
Once these “junior leaders” have earned their SENIOR STATUS, then their SUCCESS is measured on the basis of “return on investment,” overall profits, and sustainment. Is their SUCCESS “on-going,” or just a ONE-TIME achievement.
But the better question is: Were they fair and honest all along the JOURNEY? Did they follow the Golden Rule? Were any dead bodies left on the side of the road? While success is the desired affect; it’s “how we achieve success” that makes it “successful for all involved.” Paul tells us in his letter 2 Timothy 4:7 – “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
While a Leader may enjoy DEGREES of SUCCESS along the way… in order for him to have SUSTAINED SUCCESS, then he MUST have been fair, honest, truthful, moral, resourceful, committed, and has placed God as #1 in his life….all of these…all along the journey.
