There are MANY ATTRIBUTES that a “good leader” is made-up from, and chief of these would be a “strong commitment to the Plan, holding themselves out as being both capable and responsible for the success of the project; and accepting the consequences of the outcome…good or bad.
Every Leader’s Tool bag comes with Commitment; Responsibility and Consequence. The leader’s COMMITMENT to the POA (Plan-of-Action), or project, is the underlying strength of its ultimate outcome. A weak commitment, will guarantee a weak result. A good leader will bring on his entire staff to share his commitment
Responsibility is seeing the project from inception to conclusion and insuring of its success. This responsibility cannot be passed down the line, and if it were… then you would be compromising your leadership role. A good leader is BOTH responsible for the SUCCESS or FAILURE of the POA. Escaping responsibility is not possible.
The Consequence will be the thrill of the success, or the subsequent aftermath of its failure. Most leaders, certainly me, thrive on the consequence. To many, it is the “thrill of the kill.” Leaders don’t run from Consequence…they engage it….accepting the glory of its success, or the humiliation of its failure. There is no ESCAPE. Are you a leader?
These are the very same attributes that God requires of us, when we join Him in His plan for our lives…Rather in business, social, family, or spiritual… we MUST be committed, be responsible, and accept the consequence.
COMMITMENT: Proverbs 16:3 – Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 3:5-8 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
RESPONSIBILITY: Jeremiah 17:9-10 – “The heart is more deceitful than all else, and is desperately sick; Who can understand it? “I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.
CONSEQUENCE: Galatians 6:7-8 – Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
