STAY CALM…COOK & COLLECTED: For me, I’ve been the ‘Mr. Calm’… all my life. I don’t get too excited about much. Sure, I’m quick to LAUGH… that is…if it’s “really funny.” Moderately funny… I give a weak-smile. Same with sadness… I’m not into ‘over-reacting.’ It’ not that I’m INSENTIVE; it’s just that I’m very SLOW to show EMOTION. I’m not proud of it.
Being calm, I think, contains an element of POWER. When all around you has gone crazy… Remaining CALM, can bring SANENESS to an issue. This is TRUE, rather it be in a business setting, social… or even… at home. Inserting a calmness, often, will relieve the PRESSURE –VALVE in a, otherwise, stormy environment. SUSTAINMENT of one’s career is not possible without a significant element of CALMNESS.
One of the by-products of CALMNESS is the element of SERIOUSNESS. Take things seriously…why waste time talking if we can’t be serious? Calmness FEEDS seriousness… or vice-versa. Calmness also allows one TIME to get their thoughts together. In CAREER-BUILDING, be assured, that management will NOTICE your sense of calmness… which will lead to more opportunity.
Sometimes, when one gets ‘very-excited’… they lose their cool, and say things out of character… or seriously hurt someone’s feelings. No one is IMMUNE to saying the wrong thing; we’ve all done it… calmness, often averts that possibility. Consider, how ‘remaining calm’ in natural disasters, war, divorce, or even if you had to deliver a baby’… or give aide to someone having a heart-attack. Many times, just a ‘few-seconds of calmness’… will SAVE the day, or more importantly… a LIFE. For me… I think that my calm nature was a ‘GIFT from God.’ …I’m sure I did not inherit it from my parents.
We can find COMFORT in Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” And, in James 1:19-20 – “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” Calmness also gives one a ‘peace of mind’… and a sense of CONFIDENCE; both …. Being career-builders.
I’m not qualified to get into the various ways to develop CALMNESS, but there are a number of methods available, but the most important ingredient is: a DESIRE to remain calm. These same characteristics make a ‘relationship with God’… all the more possible… AS all our SENSES are “receptive” to hearing His Word, feeling His PRESENSE, and Seeing His LOVE.
…Blessings, as we all work towards being… more CALM. …cjlb…1/16/2018
