ABILITY: Webster tell us that Ability is the possession of the means or skill to do something; i.e. capability, potential, power, talent, skill, or proficiency. Having ‘certain abilities’….WOW, it is a very fortunate thing to have…and a great blessing.
The Apostle Matthew tell us in Matthew 17:20 – “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed… nothing shall be impossible unto you.” And, again, in…1 Peter 4:10 – “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another.”
So there you have it; Having faith in your God-Given ability, and talents, is one thing… but to withhold it, to hoard it… using it for your very own, is counter-productive; especially after receiving the corresponding success associated with God’s Blessings.
God helps us to achieve our successes… but also demands that we share our success with others, giving them the same opportunities that we enjoy. It is NEVER too late to give back, through others, what God has bestowed on us.
As Leaders… we are obligated to SHARE our gifts… our KNOWLEDGE, our skills… with everyone… otherwise; where does the next generation of Leaders come from. Every Father is obligated to teach his children the skills that he learned from his own father. Likewise, the Mother. Mom should prepare her daughters… sharing with them the ‘art of motherhood.’
We don’t own our abilities, or skill-sets… they are on loan to us… from God. Our purpose is the SHARE our “gifts” with those who don’t have as many. Rather we are in a family environment, work/career issues, educational issues, or spiritual… we are demanded by God… to share our GIFTS.
About 9 years ago, a fellow came up to me, who was the ‘retired City Engineer,’ of his home town. He took the time to tell me WHY he was there, attending my brother’s funeral… going on to tell me the ‘story’ of how my brother (while in high-school 55 years earlier) taught him how to use an engineering ‘slide-rule,’ a tool that no engineer could function without. He shared that… had it not been for my brother, he would not have passed that particular course, nor would he have gone on to be the City Engineer… stating, that he owed it all to my brother. Well…at the funeral of my brother… you can imagine what that meant to me.
It’s NEVER too late to LEARN, and NEVER too late to SHARE what we know. Remember, we can’t rely on “You Tube, and the Internet” for everything…. Let’s use a little common sense along the way.
