“…Networking and my personality didn’t mix well. I simply was not good at small talk and hand-shaking…”

Food for thought…I’ve spent a life time of “NOT” networking. I still managed to succeed in my (by some measure) career despite my refusal to network. Networking and my personality didn’t mix well. I simply was not good at small talk and hand-shaking. I always seemed to put my foot in my own mouth anyway. So… I just avoided all of that type of “stuff.”

Now…with that said…I don’t advocate my approach. I look back at my career, thinking…”how much more successful” could I have been, if I had adapted to networking? Is there a course in Networking 101? There should be. I encourage anyone, who by the Grace of God, might be reading this…to LEARN how to network. It won’t hurt…it can only help. Even Jesus networked.

We are, or can be, much like the New Testament-era fishermen working their nets. God constantly works the Kingdom net — weaving it larger, mending its torn places, catching more fish. In another parable-like saying, Jesus told His disciples, in Mark 1:17 – “Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people.” The disciples of Jesus Christ serve as His fishers — in effect, the network He deploys to catch more people.

And, the most meaningful to me, is Matthew 28:18-20 – And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

LinkedIn is a “great tool” for networking; both DIRECTLY and IN-directly. Seize the opportunity that LinkedIn provides… to networking; both for your business interests, and for God.  It’s NEVER too LATE to teach an “old dog” a new trick. My networking skills “still suck,” but I’m, at least, trying.

So, while I didn’t do that well in following my advice to you; I did, at least, become the benefactor of the “networking affect,” of the Apostles…. As by evidence of today’s posting; and my commitment to this website; in bringing to you, and others…. sound business advice, sprinkled with biblical WISDOM.
