“…O’Yeah… I bet you probably have bad-breath… and are always late for work…”

Image result for god has a special plan for you     Idle vs. Idol: Neither is much to brag about….both are wrong….they produce nothing, and stand for “zero.”

The first…IDLE…tells us that you we are “standing still.” Possibly a couch potato, and probably outside of our job, we just sit around watching TV, and eating. We probably don’t exercise, we hire out our yard work, we’re likely obese, and go to a lot of movies, and I’m sure… not in very good health, and getting worse.  Also, we probably RECORD all the “day-time-drama,” so as not to miss-out on Dr. Phil, Oprah, and The View.  Active sports are out of the question.  Marital problems are likely in the peripheral. …..All of which spells a serious problem.  O’Yeah… I bet we probably have bad-breath… and are always late for work.

The second…IDOL… tells us that we can’t pass a mirror without taking a “gander” at the good looking guy looking back at us.   We do our job because we “have to support” our family, we’re on our 5th job in the last 3-years, we take great pride in how we look, we’re spending money faster than we can make it, we’re sporting around in a new car/truck every 3 years, we’re “highly-in-debt,” and behind on a number of monthly obligations.  And… I’ll wager we drink too much alcohol.   We idolize everything that “makes us happy,” for the moment, and are always searching for “something new.”  Plus we ADMIRE all the FOLLY’WOOD celebrities, and want to be “just like them.” Probably, too, we’re paying ALIMONY and CHILD-SUPPORT to several former spouses.

How does one get out of this idle/idol RUT? My guess is that we’re going to have to “hit rock bottom” sooner than later.   We likely have to feel the PAIN of losing most of what was “formerly dear to us.” Withdrawal pain….of the WORST kind.

Such that we have to remove ourselves from all the “obstacles” that are PREVENTING us from God’s PLAN.  Such as: Self-pity, self-indulgence, self-pride, I’m #1 syndrome, everyone hates me, everybody is always mad at me, I can’t do anything right, I think I’m dying, I NEED a raise, I’m not sleeping good, and all “those hypocrites” at church think they’re better then me…. I just need another “drink,” and everything will get BETTER.  THAT all has to go….

Nothing gets better, until, and unless… we CHANGE our ATTITUDE and our PRIORITIES.  Putting ourselves in front of everyone, and everything else… is our first hurdle.  We need, to START-NOW…. by putting God first, then FAMILY, then JOB, then OTHERS…. And ourselves as a distant…LAST.  If we can accomplish “this,” than all the other issues will “fall-in-line” for a NAVIGATIONAL-life-changing-EVENT.

I know… you think I’m making this sound as if it’s EASY to do.  Of course… I KNOW that it’s not. But there is not enough SPACE, or TIME, to go over all the ramifications necessary to accomplish these CHANGES.  That process will be up to you to determine.  You can equate this to “dietary advice”… I’m telling you to LOSE weight… I’m NOT telling you WHAT to eat, WHEN to eat, or HOW to eat.  That, we can figure that out on our own.

And, I might STRONGLY ADVISE…as first, second, and throughout, and lastly…. To PRAY for Divine Guidance. We’re told in Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Have a “conversation with God,” to help you (and me) to “understand and accomplish” the PLAN that HE has in store for each of us.
