STRESS: She walked the room with a glass of water …while leading a seminar on stress control. “How heavy is this glass of water?” The answers varied throughout the room. “Actually,” she said, “the weight of the glass of water is not an issue.”
“It depends on how long it’s held. Hold it for a minute is no biggie. Hold it for an hour; and my arm would ache, it seems, forever. If I held it for a day, I’d faint. The point: the longer I hold it, the heavier the glass of water becomes.”
She continued, “As it is with stress; if we carry our burden all the time, then, as the burden gets heavier, we tend to fail. With the glass of water; you have to put it down and rest before holding it again. After a rest, we can carry the stress longer as time goes on.
Start early in the day and put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them into the night, because you’ll wake up in the morning with the same burden. So it is with ANGER… carrying unwarranted ANGER, for long periods of time… places a unwarranted stress on your entire system… eventually causing it “to shut down,” and eventually causing a stroke, or some other related, and “serious health issue.”
PRAYER is a successful antidote for STRESS… I would suggest a daily, or even twice daily, regiment of serious and soulful…PRAYER. Serious Prayer releases STRESS.
Matthew 11:28-30 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Psalm 55:22 -Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
