What’s it all about … anyway? The day is over, the deeds are done. We’ve done our best… and time to go home. So….. What have we accomplished that would be pleasing to Management… ourselves…and to God…. the Great CEO?
We’ve had many starts, a few false, and a few successful finishes. But… the greater question for the day… are we there for ourselves; satisfying our inner sense of need… feeding our thirsty ego? Or, were we there for the Honor and Glory of God?
A selfish Leader will only last…just so long. You can “list any set of criteria” for a good Leader that you wish, but unless those criteria include humility, commitment, good morals, a sense of giving, and love for his fellow man…than that Leader will fail sooner than later.
Let’s put it all in perspective. We can only push that engine…up hill…just so long… on our own steam… then … to remain successful… something else “has to kick in.” We CANNOT do it alone. This is what “team work,” is about. The TEAM consists of yourself, the corresponding support staff, management support, and…. Believe it or not…. The Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will be “on the side-lines” waiting for THE CALL to come. If the call does not come… the Holy Spirit will stay on the sidelines. But… when the CALL does come…. Then… Katie bar the door. Because, when we surrender to “the call,” then all the pieces will come-together. And, with this formula… careers are SUSTAINED.
When we accept that God is the Great Leader, Teacher, and Motivator… and NOTHING…. Absolutely nothing…. Can be sustained… with Him… as part of the TEAM. Jesus said that nothing else matters unless the person is intimately connected to Him, as shown in John 15:5-6 – “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.”
Being rooted in Christ is a fundamental “prerequisite” to finding God’s will for our career. We will not be ready, or able, to find the career path He has designed for us, unless, we are seeking Him first. He calls us to love Him…first… with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength–and to love others as we love ourselves. The more passionately we are pursuing these callings, the better equipped we will be to hear His voice and to be the person we will need to be in order to do the things God has created each of us to do.
