I was “prescription-drug-FREE” until about two years ago, at age 73. Then everything seemed to fall apart. High-blood pressure; a minor blocked artery in my back, and a few other issues that I won’t bore you with. There was, I was told, a number of options that were available for consideration, which the doctor’s thought would “control” these medical issues, and if I followed their suggested regimen; I would lead a relatively un-eventful life. I could take cholesterol medicine, a blood thinner, something else for potential strokes, and some medicine for “those other things” that I won’t bore you with, along with a proper diet; and an exercise routine.
Or, I could do nothing; which I chose to do for about six months, until my cardiologist raised so much cain; that I re-evaluated the self-med approach, in flavor of more professional help.. So, prescription-drugs was the chosen route. With all the medical issues that I suddenly was encountering, some of the drugs did not react well with each other. I guess that’s why they say that doctors “practice” medicine. The good news is that all of my medical issues, in the long run, are just that: Issues.
We humans, can also have other types of “blocked arteries,” which can be easily, or could be “very difficult,” and much more serious in the long run, than the medical type. We could have “blocked spiritual” arteries. How can that happen, and what the heck is it? Similar to health issues; we could have some spiritual issues that need attention. We could be contributing to “blocked spiritual arteries” by living an immoral life-style. We could be lying, a habitual thief, cheating on our tax-return, on our spouse, or drinking/drugging excessively, fornicating, into pornography, or worse yet; NOT being a believer. All of these “issues” can contribute to our spiritual life being clogged-up. And, if left un-attended, we could die an early death, and spend “it” in eternal damnation…or HELL. So, getting our spiritual arteries unclogged is of “primary importance.” In fact, it should be our “first-order-of-business.” Believe it or not!
Psalms 34-14-15 – Keep your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous And His ears are open to their cry.… When things are looking bleak… like there is no-tomorrow; I can tell you from experience that God is the only answer. Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
And, in case you haven’t done it LATELY….go, now, and give your Spouse (or friend) a BIG Hug and Kiss….just in case. …Blessings… cjlb…12/01/14
