IMPOSTER: Will the “real” Mr. Leader please stand up. Often, Leaders become the biggest of imposters; never true to themselves, or their followers. Instead, they hide behind a cloud of fakery…sometimes called “smoke and mirrors.
These types of leaders build a defense mechanism around themselves for self-preservation. They don’t let “anyone” inside. They are actors on a stage, and we are the audience. And because of their uncanny ability to deceive… we, the follower, are also their enablers. These IMPOSTERS lose their identity, while seeking corporate stardom; often at the sacrifice of life, career, and family. They are so “caught up in their deceit,” then actually leading “their team” to a successful conclusion.
Luke 6:42 tells us – How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
This same deceit is found in the “spiritual world,” and we are cautioned… accordingly: 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 – Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
We’ve all heard the cliché …”buyer beware”…. This would be…”follower beware.”
