I’ve ALWAYS carried more “life-insurance;” than necessary, weighted with TERM LIFE. I was an insurance agent’s DREAM. You name it, I had it, or had it when I needed it. I cannot began to count the hundreds of thousands I’ve spent to insure that something would not happen. Once, I considered buying insurance to guarantee a real estate lease with a bank (during the bank crises), and while the deal soured, the logic was well founded. Granted, I don’t carry as much life insurance as I once did, since insuring debt is no longer consequential.
WE buy insurance, though, for every conceivable possibility. Celebrities are renowned for insuring various parts of their bodies, including their voice, or legs, and even models buy protection. You can buy rental income protection; and umbrella policies, and fire insurance.
I remember my Mother telling me that had my Grandfather died after midnight, rather than before midnight, that his life insurance would have paid double-indemnity. We can insure our life, our car, our children, our marriage, our house, our business, employees, key-personnel, liability, disability, long-term-care, and mortgage insurance. Even the space program can insure a “space-launch.” Boxers, football players, and all forms of sports are insured. We buy retirement programs, annuities, and an endless list of insurable commodities. We even insure farm crops. We can insure against about every conceivable situation.
Vehicle and equipment industries and government entities are commonly SELF-INSURED, and until recently, many people never carried health insurance for the first $25K of risk. They were, SELF-INSURED, up to a certain amount; much like a “high-deductible.”
However, we cannot buy insurance to cover certain of life events, such as, mortality; life-ever-lasting; or a guarantee of going to Heaven. Fortunately, God PROVIDES us with certain ASSURANCES, rendering insurance as useless. God guarantees us life-everlasting; but it’s our choice as to where we spend life-everlasting. God guarantees many things, but in order to take advantage of that guarantee; we MUST abide in Him. He asks for certain things in return. Insurance may buy protection for all sorts of “worldly events,” or risks; but we cannot buy insurance against the “here-after.” God is our INSURANCE carrier, and offers us PROTECTION against all catastrophes.
The Bible says, “He [Jesus] was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Rom. 4:25). “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9).
The Bible says, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25, 26). “Because I live,” [said Jesus] you also will live” (John 14:19).
The Bible says, [Jesus said], “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matt. 28:20).
The Bible says, “Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died-more than that, who was raised-who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us” (Rom. 8:34).”Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Heb. 7:25).
The Bible says, “I want to know Christ-yes, to know the power of his resurrection” (Phil. 3:10).
The Bibles says, “For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep” (I Thess. 4:14). “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body” (Phil. 3:20,21).
With “that kind” of protection…who needs insurance? ….Blessings…cjlb…3/10/15
